RTCC - Responding to Climate Change

London: A website tipped to be the world's premier online news resource for climate change is to be launched by Responding to Climate Change (RTCC) this December. The news portal, called ClimateWire, will draw together all the climate change news stories from across the globe, providing a daily updated snap-shot of world climate change news.

The portal will be focussed specifically on climate change and relevant sustainable development news, covering stories from environmental activism and research through to corporate policy and emissions markets information. 'There are some websites that cover environmental news, and there are some that cover parts of the climate change debate, but there is no one-stop-shop where you can go to update yourself on all new climate change stories every morning - ClimateWire aims to fill that gap,' stated Sarah Peake, Editor at RTCC. 'In addition to news stories, we will also run press releases

to communicate solutions and initiatives from companies and governments and NGOs - this is going to be an integral part of our worldwide communications effort to promote action to combat climate change.'

This website will be officially launched at the United Nations climate change meeting, COP10, in order to engage the top decision makers in government and the private sectors. 'This meeting is the most important forum in the climate change calendar for decision makers,' said Sarah, 'by launching ClimateWire here we hope each of these people will see the importance of up to date information on an issue that develops every day.'

The service will be international and free to anybody who accesses the site. It will also provide a resource for previous news items and press releases in an archive that can be searched by country, subject, date and source. 'We envisage the site being used by government

officials, corporate policy makers, journalists following hot issues, students doing research - really by anyone who wants to know what's going on now in climate change', noted Sarah. A pilot of the site is due to be online in November.

RTCC is an official observer to the UN climate change negotiations, and is responsible to communicating and showcasing solutions and initiatives in climate change. They are based in London and Cambridge, but have a fully global reach in brining companies and government together to communicate issues on climate change and sustainable development.
