LCEDN VIDEO: Putting communities at the heart of energy projects

Communities should be put at the heart of low-energy projects in the developing world, to ensure the best possible results are achieved, according to an Energy Consultant from Practical Action.

Talking at the first conference of the Low Carbon Energy for Development Network, Ewan Bloomfield spoke to RTCC about some of the benefits experienced by poor, isolated communities in the Global South from gaining access to clean and safe energy sources.

He says it opens up opportunities for education, brings health benefits but can also help to provide simple entertainment and community benefits as well.

He stresses that the most successful projects will always be the one’s that have been tailored to fit the needs of households and communities.
