UN climate chief Christiana Figueres will be guest of honour at the 2013 launch of the Rio Conventions Calendar.
The focus of this year’s calendar is water, and the subject is explored through 12 unique pieces of artwork specifically commissioned for the 2013 publication.
The calendar celebrates the cooperation between the three Rio Conventions; the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
All three were ‘born’ at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, and celebrated their 20th birthday at the Rio+20 conference in June 2012.
The launch will take place at the UNFCCC climate change TV studio at the COP18 conference centre in Doha at 630pm on Wednesday 28 November. Calenders will be available for collection at the event.
