Actor Jude Law and Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke have both joined Greenpeace’s campaign to ‘Save the Arctic’, with a video depicting the plight of the iconic symbol of the Arctic; the polar bear.
The video shows a ‘homeless polar bear’ wandering the streets of London, lost and confused in an unfamiliar habitat.
Against the background of Radiohead music, Jude Law’s voiceover says: “Our leaders won’t listen to her, but they’ll listen to you. What do you have to say to those who want to destroy the Arctic?”
The Save the Arctic campaign aims to push for a global sanctuary in the uninhabited area around the North Pole – the High Arctic – and ban offshore drilling and industrial fishing in the wider region.
It hopes to put pressure on world leaders ahead of a meeting at the UN in New York in September, to pass a resolution demanding legal protection for the Arctic.
